MEME REFERENCE

1000 yard stare

Use 1000 yard stare when distant collides with focus, and that mismatch becomes the point of the conversation.

What it expresses

A distant gaze implies intense focus without direct engagement.

Example

For example, when someone is deeply absorbed in a complex task.

When not to use it

Avoid 1000 yard stare when the situation lacks both distant and focus; the image would suggest the wrong relationship.
