MEME REFERENCE

the office bankruptcy

Use when someone believes merely declaring a status or outcome will make it legally or practically true.

What it expresses

A performative announcement is mistaken for the real process needed to produce its result.

Example

A teammate says 'I declare this project finished' while half the checklist is open, and the group responds with this.

When not to use it

An authorized official completes the required procedure and then announces the result; the declaration has real force.

• I declare bankruptcy
• empty declaration
• The Office
• not how it works
