FLOODING THUMBS UP

Use when someone signals that everything is fine while the situation visibly deteriorates around them.

What it expresses

A reassuring gesture clashes with an emergency that is already impossible to ignore.

Example

The release dashboard turns red across every service, and the on-call engineer sends this thumbs-up to the team chat.

When not to use it

A small issue is contained and the status report accurately says it is stable; the irony requires worsening conditions.
