MEME REFERENCE

Buff Doge vs Crying Cheems

Use when contrasting a strong past with a weaker present

What it expresses

Past strength versus current vulnerability

Example

Label the muscular dog 'our old password policy: 30 characters' and the crying dog 'today: please add one number.'

When not to use it

The compared eras perform equally well under similar conditions, so strength-versus-decline would be false nostalgia.
