Captain america elevator

Use when people sharing a confined setting realize a confrontation is imminent and tension spikes before anyone acts.

What it expresses: Close physical proximity turns an unspoken conflict into an unavoidable showdown.
Example: Two colleagues who publicly criticized each other step into the same elevator before a meeting, and the office chat posts this.
When not to use it: The passengers are relaxed strangers making small talk; an impending fight would invent tension that is not there.
