MEME REFERENCE

Expectation vs Reality

Use when an advertisement, listing, photo, or confident promise creates an ideal picture that the disappointing real result immediately contradicts.

What it expresses: A polished advertised version is compared with the cramped, shabby, awkward, or ordinary thing someone actually receives.
Example: The rental listing shows a huge bright kitchen, but arrival reveals one dim room, a hot plate, and a parking-lot window.
When not to use it: Avoid when the delivered place or result substantially matches what the photos and promise showed.
