# Pretending To Be Happy, Hiding Crying Behind A Mask — Meme Lab

Use Pretending To Be Happy, Hiding Crying Behind A Mask when an important motive, feeling, or action is being concealed.

- What it expresses: Hidden reality: the smiling mask held over a face that is privately crying represents a moment where an important motive, feeling, or action is being concealed.
- Example: For example, the cheerful update omits that the build has been broken all day; the visual analogy is the smiling mask held over a face that is privately crying, signaling that an important motive, feeling, or action is being concealed.
- When not to use it: Avoid when nothing important is hidden; the smiling mask held over a face that is privately crying would incorrectly signal that an important motive, feeling, or action is being concealed.
