# Guy with sand in the hands of despair — Meme Lab

Use for melodramatic despair when something valued is gone, slipping away, or impossible to recover.

- What it expresses: A loss is treated with theatrical, almost existential devastation.
- Example: The group learns its favorite café has removed the one affordable lunch special, and a friend posts this in exaggerated mourning.
- When not to use it: Someone is coping with a recent bereavement; the campy despair pose would be insensitive rather than relatable.
