# RIP headstone — Meme Lab

Use to declare that a habit, project, trend, hope, or running joke is decisively over.

- What it expresses: A familiar thing is memorialized as though it has died and will not return.
- Example: The café removes the only affordable lunch from its menu, so your group posts a headstone for the weekly tradition.
- When not to use it: A service is paused for scheduled maintenance and has a confirmed return time; temporary absence does not warrant a funeral.
