# He was a boy, she was a girl — Meme Lab

Use to frame a boy-and-girl pairing as an extremely obvious romantic setup, usually with playful reference to the lyric 'can I make it any more obvious?'

- What it expresses: Two simple character labels are treated as enough evidence for a predictable romance trope.
- Example: Friends keep insisting that the only single man and single woman at dinner must date, so you mock the assumption with this format.
- When not to use it: Two people have clearly said they are not interested in each other; presenting gender alone as destiny can reinforce an unwanted pairing.
