# Buff Doge vs Crying Cheems — Meme Lab

Use when contrasting a strong past with a weaker present

- What it expresses: Past strength versus current vulnerability
- Example: Label the muscular dog 'our old password policy: 30 characters' and the crying dog 'today: please add one number.'
- When not to use it: The compared eras perform equally well under similar conditions, so strength-versus-decline would be false nostalgia.
