# society if — Meme Lab

Use society if when a simple setup exposes the rule, tradeoff, or behavior people wish others followed.

- What it expresses: Norm versus behavior: the shining futuristic city credited to one preferred change represents a moment where a simple setup exposes the rule, tradeoff, or behavior people wish others followed.
- Example: For example, everyone wants instant alerts but nobody wants notifications; the visual analogy is the shining futuristic city credited to one preferred change, signaling that a simple setup exposes the rule, tradeoff, or behavior people wish others followed.
- When not to use it: Avoid when there is no behavioral contradiction; the shining futuristic city credited to one preferred change would incorrectly signal that a simple setup exposes the rule, tradeoff, or behavior people wish others followed.
